Chris Thomas served one term on the Memphis City School Board prior to his election as Probate Court Clerk in 1994. As Probate Clerk, Thomas is responsible for the administration of the court’s two divisions. His office oversees wills, estates, guardianships and conservatorships in Shelby County. He is completing his fourth term as clerk where he’s credited with modernizing the office to increase efficiency and improve customer service. Local attorneys rate Thomas’ office tops among court clerk offices for exceptional service.

A graduate of Kingsbury High School, Thomas is the father of three. He holds a degree in marketing from the University of Memphis. Thomas and his family are active members of Faith Baptist Church.

Thomas is Chairman of the Escort Marshals Committee for the St. Jude Golf classic and serves on the Marguerite Piazza St Jude Gala Board. He also is involved with promotions for the Delta Fair and Music Festival, and was the 2005 Race Director for Memphis-Mid-South Race for the Cure. Thomas is the past Chairman of the Board of Youth for Christ (now J.I.F.F.) and is a Board Member for Life Choices.
